Gratitude Cards and Letters

 HairQueen News

In November 2020, I took this photo of beautiful cards and letters I received during the six-month-long shutdown of the salon industry.  I intended to write about them at the time and express my deep gratitude for the overwhelming support each one of these correspondences represented.

I imagine, sometimes, that happens to you as well...your best laid plans get sidetracked and you think, "I'll do it later."

Here we are one year later and what a year it has been!

Cards of support and encouragement from my wonderful clients.

I have kept the cards and letters on my desk since they started arriving during the early days of the pandemic.

What mementos do you have from those early days?  What helped to keep your spirits up in the midst of all the unknowns and uncertainties? I'd love to know.

How are you doing now?

I am okay.  I had a difficult business decision to make and now I need your help.

I have an open suite and I am looking for a new person to join Swans Studios. Do you know any hairstylists, barbers or estheticians that are ready for the next step in their career or looking for a new home? If yes, please send them my way and note they must be vaccinated.  I look forward to meeting them.

My cell is 510-545-2955 or they can email me at suzanne@suzannevanhouten.com for more information. They can also click this link to view and respond to our Craigslist ad.

When I'm not searching for a new tenant, I am busy cutting and styling away, which is always my happy place in the salon. There is nothing like a good haircut.  And, until the day I set my shears down, I look forward to seeing you in my chair and crafting a haircut for you to enjoy!  My tools are ready!

For future appointments, please call 510-545-2955 or email me at suzanne@suzannevanhouten.com

In the meantime, I hope you have a very Happy Thanksgiving!  We love you!

Bad Hair Days Happen In Between The Good Hair Days

Hairqueen News My transition into retirement continues, it’s a bit like growing out your hair or your hair color.  It’s exciting at first to try something new, but then the reality sets in, your bangs are in your eyes, your grey is showing.  Will you like the new look, will you feel like yourself, will you regret it and go back? The only way to find out is to try. I find in my retired life, like growing out hair there are some bad hair days.  On those days, I miss my color bowls and foils, the sounds and the smells of the salon. And all of you. Yet, I’m grateful that my one-day-a-week schedule continues to be a win, win. I get to see some of you and I get my salon fix.  Just last week I cut a super cute pixie from a bob, (that’s short hair from mid-length hair for those of you not in the know :). This month I've had the chance to review and reduce my inventory. I have some items on sale at 25% off. Come by and shop or contact me for more information. ...
