Vaccination Rollout Phase 2

Hairqueen March News

As I began to write this update I hardly knew what to write or where to start because there seems to be something new to share almost everyday!

First, we are almost at the one year mark of our first COVID-19 shut-down and secondly, we are in the midst of the vaccine rollout.

The salon industry and all personal care services are currently in the “other” category listed on MyTurn and other vaccine sites.

For most of the personal care industry that means having to wait weeks or possibly months for a vaccine.

Although, with the recent introduction of the Johnson and Johnson vaccine hopefully appointments will be made available for the personal care industry soon.

In the meantime I have contacted the Alameda County Health Department, MyTurn, and my doctor to advocate for the Personal Care Industry to be included in the COVID-19 Vaccination Rollout Plan.

We would like to be included along with bars and restaurants which are eligible to receive the vaccine at this time.

I have also signed and donated to this petition, please click on the link, sign and share if you are willing?

Thank you!

Nurse M. receiving her first dose of the vaccine !

I am delighted that many of you have received your first and some of you your second dose of the vaccine.

And then just as I was beginning to write this update, I received a text and a chance to sign up for the vaccine!

It seems everyday is a test in patience, faith, perseverance and luck.

All of these have contributed to me and Swans Studios surviving this past year and I could not have done it without you.

Spring is here it's time to think about a Spring haircut or color and that is how I would like to be spending my time moving forward.

Scissor, comb, create

Masked and ready to go

Thank you for reading this blog and I will see you soon :)

Bad Hair Days Happen In Between The Good Hair Days

Hairqueen News My transition into retirement continues, it’s a bit like growing out your hair or your hair color.  It’s exciting at first to try something new, but then the reality sets in, your bangs are in your eyes, your grey is showing.  Will you like the new look, will you feel like yourself, will you regret it and go back? The only way to find out is to try. I find in my retired life, like growing out hair there are some bad hair days.  On those days, I miss my color bowls and foils, the sounds and the smells of the salon. And all of you. Yet, I’m grateful that my one-day-a-week schedule continues to be a win, win. I get to see some of you and I get my salon fix.  Just last week I cut a super cute pixie from a bob, (that’s short hair from mid-length hair for those of you not in the know :). This month I've had the chance to review and reduce my inventory. I have some items on sale at 25% off. Come by and shop or contact me for more information. ...

Endings and Beginnings

HairQueen News: I celebrated a big milestone, forty years of being a hairstylist and 25 years as a business owner. I was planning to completely retire but then I decided to keep the “tip of my scissors” in for a while longer. This decision means I am free to step into a new phase of life as I gradually let go of my wonderful salon career. We had a party — it was fantastic! I loved every minute. My heart overflowed as my clients, colleagues, and family helped me mark this major career milestone.                                                                                                                                              ...
