Reopening Update

 Dear Clients and Friends,

I worried so much about taking a month of this summer to celebrate turning sixty, little did I know that my business would be closed for over five months and that I would become an expert on all things financial from grants to loans and gifts and more.

I did not go away for a month but I did go away for five glorious days for my birthday.  I soaked in the sun, the ocean breeze and set aside my worry for a brief while.

Now I am home and back to advocating for getting salons open in California.

On Tuesday August 11, I joined a rally at the State Capitol.  Salon professionals came from far and wide to rally together.  Click here to see the press coverage.

There are rallies almost daily now, all over the state.

On Monday August 17, salons  will open for one day in protest and I will join the movement.

Following August 17, I do not know what will happen but I do know that I am fed up and ready to return to work. Of course, with all the necessary sanitation and PPE protocols in place.

Again thank you for your continuous support of myself and Swans Studios.

If you would like to contact Gavin Newsom to offer support to the salon industry click this link https://govapps.gov.ca.gov/gov40mail/

Or call: 1-916-445-2841.  Either way your support is appreciated.

As always feel free to contact me via phone, texts or email with any questions and/or concerns.

How time has flown since my retirement of full-time hair services and salon ownership. I am writing this Blog to shamelessly ask you to vote for me in a contest.  When I enrolled in the contest I did not realize what an undertaking it would be. I am committed to see it through to the end! The contest is FabOver40, it is both a beauty contest and a fundraiser for breast cancer. Here is the link to the contest:  FabOver40 My profile page on the site gives you information as to why I would like to win and here I am sharing more details. I would like to be the biggest fundraiser for The National Breast Cancer Foundation.  I'd like to win for my younger self and every, girl and woman that has suffered a loss due to cancer, an accident or an autoimmune disease. I wrote the story below in an Autobiography writing class last fall a...

Endings and Beginnings

HairQueen News: I celebrated a big milestone, forty years of being a hairstylist and 25 years as a business owner. I was planning to completely retire but then I decided to keep the “tip of my scissors” in for a while longer. This decision means I am free to step into a new phase of life as I gradually let go of my wonderful salon career. We had a party — it was fantastic! I loved every minute. My heart overflowed as my clients, colleagues, and family helped me mark this major career milestone.                                                                                                                                              ...
