2020 Hair Goals

Hair we are in 2020!

I am back behind-the-chair after a wonderful winter break.  And I have to say how rewarding it is after all these years to continue to love my craft.  I am truly grateful and humbled at the joy my work continues to give me and truly appreciate each and every one of you.

January is a time for resolutions and taking stock.

For me this is the year that I will turn 60!

I am so excited to reach this milestone.

Many of my friends, family and clients have already reached this milestone and so far everyone seems to be handling it very well.  There’s the odd moan about how old one looks and occasional remarks about slowing down and this ailment and that aliment but mostly people are delighted and grateful to be enjoying the honor of aging.
How do we age gracefully?  How do we stay interested in new ideas?  How do we let go of what no longer serves us?  How do we know we are enough?

There are days that it is hard to love how we look, to be willing to try a new idea, to let go of old ideas and to believe that yes indeed we are already pretty fabulous.

On those days it is good to know you do not have to do this alone and that a change can lift you out of a stuck place and help you move forward.

Honestly, it can be a little change or a big one.  In the hair world this can mean getting bangs or layers or texture or color or letting go of color.

Sometimes just a change in the line of the cut can put a pep in your step and a smile on your face.

I am here to help you with any hair resolution you may want to make as we begin the year.

Our two lovely before and after beauties pictured above both made a big change in 2019 -  is it your turn?

Hair we go,

Cheers, Suzanne

Bad Hair Days Happen In Between The Good Hair Days

Hairqueen News My transition into retirement continues, it’s a bit like growing out your hair or your hair color.  It’s exciting at first to try something new, but then the reality sets in, your bangs are in your eyes, your grey is showing.  Will you like the new look, will you feel like yourself, will you regret it and go back? The only way to find out is to try. I find in my retired life, like growing out hair there are some bad hair days.  On those days, I miss my color bowls and foils, the sounds and the smells of the salon. And all of you. Yet, I’m grateful that my one-day-a-week schedule continues to be a win, win. I get to see some of you and I get my salon fix.  Just last week I cut a super cute pixie from a bob, (that’s short hair from mid-length hair for those of you not in the know :). This month I've had the chance to review and reduce my inventory. I have some items on sale at 25% off. Come by and shop or contact me for more information. ...

Endings and Beginnings

HairQueen News: I celebrated a big milestone, forty years of being a hairstylist and 25 years as a business owner. I was planning to completely retire but then I decided to keep the “tip of my scissors” in for a while longer. This decision means I am free to step into a new phase of life as I gradually let go of my wonderful salon career. We had a party — it was fantastic! I loved every minute. My heart overflowed as my clients, colleagues, and family helped me mark this major career milestone.                                                                                                                                              ...
