You Are Gold

To me clients are Gold.

Salon clients truly are the Gold at the end of the rainbow.

I am half Irish and tis with the luck of the Irish I have Gold clients in my chair!

Speaking of the chair I thought I would let you know what I have been up to this past month.

I attended two product knowledge classes and a hair show.  The classes were on the product lines that we retail at Right Angle Salon, they are Unite and Kevin Murphy.  Both lines have sulfate free, paraben free and vegan shampoos, conditioners and styling products.

Just in case you do not know, when you purchase products at the Right Angle you automatically receive 10% off, as a salon client.

The hair show was produced by Unite, founder and veteran hair stylist Andrew Dale and his team.   It was on a sunday afternoon, but that did not stop the Right Angle hair stylists from attending.

Dale and his team demonstrated runway hairstyles and spring haircuts in a creative, motivational showcase.

Speaking of showcase maybe you would like to see an example or two of my recent work?

First, I will show you a before and after hi-lite, low-lite hair color with a quote from my client.

This lovely client had lost her hairdresser
and was trying to do her hair herself.

I love the new color. it is 1000% better. I can't wait until my next appointment to see how it progresses. I will be in San Diego this weekend. I will try to get someoneto take a picture of it completely dry and send it to you.

And second here is a fun, purple bob!

Sorry, I do not have a before picture for this client but we had to take an after picture because she was so tickled to go from a long brunette to a short purple bob!

I loved how happy she was to go for such a dramatic change!

Yes - clients are Gold!

No Nothing is a no scent, no fragrance, no perfume line from Finland.

Here is both a link and some information from the manufacturer:

To supply high quality products for this need, KC Professional has developed a sensitive range of hair products for styling as well as cleansing and conditioning hair and scalp. As the name of the range implies, No nothing products contain as few potentially sensitizing ingredients as possible, and to make everyone with a sensitive nose happy, all products are also 100% perfume-f…

When Your Aunt is a Hairstylist...

New Job - New Look! My niece Samantha moved to San Francisco from Plano, Texas to work for LinkedIn.  (Let's connect on LinkedIn!)

Like everyone who moves, Sam needed to find a new hairdresser to cut her hair. Lucky for Sam, she has me 😄.

Sam pulled up her Pinterest and showed me pins that she had put on a board of hairstyles that she liked. (See what I'm liking on Pinterest...)

Even though Sam had pins to show me, I did my usual consultation that I do with all my clients. I asked my questions, in order to understand Sam’s preferences and goals for her own personal look.

Question One: When in your lifetime have you liked your hair the best?

Question Two: If there was one thing about your hair that you could alter, what would that be?

Question Three: How much time and investment are you willing to put into your hair?

Question Four: What shampoos, conditioner, and styling products do you use?

Sam's answers helped me to create a new look for her, recommend the appropriate s…

Let's Hear it For the Boys!

Story of the Month - Men's HairLast month I honored my mum and my salon client mom’s, so this month it is only fitting that this month I share with you something very important to me…hairstyling men! Actually, I want to answer a question I get so often from both male and female clients, which is, “What is the difference between a barber and a hairstylist? And which one should I (my husband/boyfriend) go to?”

There are a number of factors to consider when deciding whether to go to a barber or to a salon and see a hairstylist. Here is a quick breakdown to help you in this tricky decision.

You should go to a barber if:
you want a short, traditional cut (i.e. buzz cut, flat top, fade, military style trim)you’re on a budget, barbers are typically less expensive than hairstylistsyou want a simple style that doesn’t require a lot of product, has a natural lookyou want a shave…most upscale barbers offer hot lather face shavesyou don’t want a change, barbers will typically ask what you w…
